How to File a Complaint in Consumer Forum

The person who wishes to file a complaint in Consumer forum should initially write their case as per the format of complaint petitions.  While filing a complaint, they should possess a proof of having the purchased goods or any service which they availed. They should make sure that all the information provided in the complaint is highly relevant to the case that is submitted to the Consumer Forum. The complainant is the person who files a complaint with proper Consumer Forum Registration. He can file his complaint in respective district forum under whose jurisdiction resides the opposition party. The Opposition party either lives there or may be working or running a company in that area. The complainant should make sure to he carries the prescribed fee in the form of Indian Postal Order or crossed Demand Draft.

The Consumer Forum Complaints will be taken for consideration and needed action within two years from the date of real action. The last portion of the complaint filed by the complainant should contain Prayer Clause, Compensation or relief that is expected from forum. The District forum is eligible to go ahead with jurisdiction when the value of services or goods or the compensation expected doesn’t go beyond twenty lakh rupees.

 

The district forum will collect a prescribed fee of rupees 100 up to the compensation of 1 lakh rupees. The fee will be INR 200 is the amount is between 1 lakh and 5 lakh. They collect INR 400 for compensation between 5 and 10 lakh. If the compensation is between 10 and 20 lakh, the complainant is expected to pay INR 500. If the compensation is between 20 lakh and 1 crore, the State Commission is responsible to look into the complaint. If the compensation is above 1 crore, the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission located in New Delhi will look into the matter with a fee of INR 5000.
