Consumers in every country tend to play an essential part in the overall development of the economy and financial development. If there are no consumers, there will be no demand and the economy will eventually collapse. Customer is very important for any type of business. Businesses around the world depend on customers to flourish economically. Customers are the main purpose of any business and he should not be considered as an interruption to regular work. The customer does a big favor to businesses and companies by purchasing their products and items. Lately, it has been seen that there are some negative or unfavorable business practices being conducted in the market at the expense of cheating the customers. The greedy manufacturers or sellers have adopted negative business practices by selling defective or expired products or communicating false promises. In this perspective, it is the moral duty of the government to provide appropriate consumer rights to its citizens in order to protect their commercial interests. The constitutional right to be safeguarded against hazardous products that can be dangerous to life and property is a must. Consumer products such as geysers, air conditioners, refrigerators and room heaters are some products that can be risky to life and property if found defected.

There are consumer courts in every city or district where customers can easily file complaints against the manufacturer or retailer if the product is found to be defective or of inferior quality. The consumer court has the duty to address the complaint of the customer immediately and try to resolve the legal dispute, keeping in mind all the essential parameters. The consumer court has the right to penalize the manufacturer or seller for selling defective products. At the same time, the court instructs the manufacturer to repair the defective product without any cost. If the fault is irreparable, then the court instructs the manufacturer to change the defective productive with a completely new one. Many TV commercials and advertisements have played a very important role in the improved Consumer right awareness. People have become aware of their legal consumer rights due to increased propaganda done by various TV channels and advertisements. It is the constitutional right of every citizen to be properly informed about the price, quality, purity and quantity standards of products. Customers have the right to bargain or negotiate the price in order to get the best deal from the manufacturer or seller at any point of time.
